A Comprehensive List of Core Values

Provided below is a list of core values for you to review and select the ones that resonate most with you.

Why should you review this list? Because identifying and making decisions that are aligned with your core values can be a powerful way to stay true to your authentic self, build meaningful relationships with others, and make a greater impact through your work and life.

To narrow down this list and select your top three to five values, consider doing the following:

  • Reflect on your formative life experiences that have shaped you. What underlying values stood out from those moments?
  • Think about the most meaningful people in your life. What qualities do you value in them?
  • Consider the impact you want to make in your lifetime. What values will you need to embody to reach accomplish this?

Once you’ve identified your top core values, use them as a compass to help inform decisions that you make about opportunities that come up for you.

Over time, you may need to come back to this exercise to modify or refine your list of core values, as needed.
